Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received Balaji Srinivasan, founder of the Network School, in Astana, the presidential press service reports.
Tokayev awarded Srinivasan the Dostyk (Friendship) Order, second class, for his contribution to artificial intelligence and innovation in Kazakhstan, and welcomed the launch of Network School Kazakhstan in Astana.
Why it matters: Kazakhstan is courting global tech figures as it tries to build a new generation of tech talent at home. A school for tech founders, backed at presidential level, is part of the same bet as the country's wider construction drive: build the people as well as the buildings.
