A driver who fell asleep at the wheel hit a woman pushing her baby in a stroller on the Khojasan-Lokbatan road in Azerbaijan, APA reports.
The crash happened on November 3. A Toyota car struck the woman as she crossed with the stroller. The woman was injured, while the baby's condition is normal, APA said.
The detained driver admitted he had fallen asleep at the wheel and had faced similar episodes before. A criminal case has been opened.
Why it matters: this was not a moment's inattention, by the driver's own account it was a known problem. That turns a road crash into a question about drowsy driving, and about a driver with repeated sleep episodes still being behind the wheel.
