Border guards in Kazakhstan have stopped a man trying to smuggle 11 saker falcons out of the country.
The birds, a protected species, were found at the Tselinny checkpoint, and on the black market they could be worth around 100 million tenge, ZHEST_KZ reports, citing the Border Service.
Why it matters: saker falcons are prized by falconers across the Gulf, and that price tag is why smugglers keep risking the border with birds hidden in cars.
