Kazakhstan will expand the capacity of its three oil refineries and raise fuel quality to the K-5 standard, Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenjenov told a government briefing, Kazinform reports.
The modernisation is meant to end supply disruptions and lift domestic fuel quality, under a new refining development concept presented by the ministry.
Why it matters: Kazakhstan has lived with periodic fuel shortages for years, and bigger, cleaner refineries are the fix Astana keeps promising.
