Pharmacies and shops in Kazakhstan could become safe havens for domestic violence victims under a new proposal.
Deputy Larisa Lee proposed a network of PANA safe points in pharmacies, stores and housing offices, where staff would take a woman or child to a back room, give first aid and call services, Kazinform reports.
Why it matters: for a victim, a pharmacy 60 seconds from home can be the difference between escaping and staying, and the plan turns ordinary shops into a safety net.
