US President Donald Trump has said he does not intend to use nuclear weapons against Iran, but has not ruled out expanding military operations there.
In a Politico interview he said Washington could consider new military steps, claimed 90 percent of Iran's military potential has already been destroyed, and argued the oil price rise linked to the standoff will pay off for the US in the long run, APA and Ateo report.
Why it matters: it is the clearest signal yet of where Trump draws the line: conventional pressure stays on the table, the nuclear option does not.
