Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will visit Astana, Kazakhstan on November 5 and 6 for a meeting of Central Asian leaders under the Aqaba Process, at the invitation of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Jordan's King Abdullah II.
The Aqaba Process, launched by Jordan, brings leaders together on security and counterterrorism cooperation. This round puts Central Asia's leaders in one room with the Jordanian king just as the region's security agenda, from Afghanistan's borders to water and energy, is tightening.
Why it matters: Tashkent rarely joins this format at presidential level, and the visit lands days after a week of Central Asian summitry in Astana, keeping Uzbekistan at the centre of the region's security conversation.
