Uzbekistan's central bank has explained why it left its key rate unchanged at 14 percent even as inflation falls.

The bank says it is watching second-round effects from tariff rises and inflation expectations, and Deputy Chairman Nodirbek Ochilov said the board also discussed cutting to 13.5 percent before deciding to stay tight.

Why it matters: for Uzbek households and businesses, the message is that cheaper borrowing waits. The bank would rather be sure inflation is beaten than cut early and watch prices climb again.
