Eight friends of a groom in Tashkent, Uzbekistan have been jailed for dancing on a road and blocking traffic. A court in the Almazar district found them guilty of petty hooliganism: one received 5 days of administrative arrest, the rest 7 days each.
In court they said they got carried away and did not expect such consequences, and expressed regret.
Why it matters: wedding street dances are a familiar celebration across Central Asia, and this one is now the example police and courts will point to when the party spills onto the carriageway.
