A woman in Almaty, Kazakhstan has been fined 129,750 tenge after asking a policeman on patrol whether his uniform was a Halloween costume, ZTB reports.

The incident happened on the evening of October 31 on Arbat, the city's popular pedestrian street, while residents celebrated Halloween. Police called her behaviour demonstrative, and a court fined the 47-year-old woman 30 monthly calculation indices.

Why it matters: a joke to a policeman's face became a court case, and the fine shows where Kazakhstan's police draw the line between a Halloween prank and what they treat as provocation.
