Kazakhstan's KTZ Air Cargo plans to build a fleet of 10 freight aircraft by 2030, Deputy Transport Minister Maksat Kaliakparov said. One aircraft is planned for purchase this year and a second next year, with more to follow on lease, funded from the company's own income and private investment.
He acknowledged a global shortage of available freighters, which is why negotiations are already under way.
Why it matters: Kazakhstan sits between China and Europe, and its own cargo fleet is the missing piece in turning transit geography into transit money.
