Six global measures could prevent 1.6 million deaths a year and generate 9.3 trillion dollars in combined economic and fiscal benefits, the World Health Organization says in a report ahead of the UN COP31 climate conference in Antalya, Türkiye.
The measures include heat early warnings, safe water, cleaner household energy and reforms to fossil fuel pricing.
Why it matters: COP31 comes to Türkiye's Mediterranean coast, and the WHO is framing climate action in the bluntest terms available: lives saved and money gained, not just degrees avoided.
