US Vice President JD Vance says the Republicans lost the midterm elections because of the war with Iran.
"The reason we lost is the war," Vance said, according to Anadolu Agency. He said voters who backed Donald Trump in 2024 did not turn out in the same way, and he pointed to the Iran conflict and its political cost at home.
Why it matters: this is the bluntest admission yet from inside the administration linking the Iran war to an electoral defeat. It will be read in Tehran, in the Gulf and in Congress as a signal that the war is now a domestic political liability, not just a foreign policy choice.
