Turkiye's new microsatellite GEZGIN-1 is planned for launch in the final quarter of 2028, Anadolu Agency reports.
Developed by TUBITAK UZAY, the satellite will carry high-resolution multi-band imaging and artificial intelligence supported image processing. It is meant for agriculture, environmental monitoring, ship traffic tracking and maritime surveillance, from crop health analysis to spotting environmental change.
Why it matters: a home-built observation satellite gives Turkiye its own eyes on its fields, coasts and shipping lanes, instead of relying on others for that data.
