Azerbaijan and Algeria, both important energy producers and suppliers, have major potential to expand cooperation in oil and gas, petrochemicals and renewable energy, Algeria's ambassador to Azerbaijan Zakia Ighil said at a Revolution Day event, Report reports.
Ighil welcomed the ratification this year of a memorandum on oil and gas cooperation, and said a joint commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation created this year was an important step beyond energy alone.
Why it matters: two gas exporters on opposite ends of the Mediterranean are building a formal channel, at a time when Europe is still reshaping where its energy comes from.
