Jezkazgan, Kazakhstan will build a 100-bed oncology centre and a diagnostic centre handling 250 visits per shift, in a new wing of the regional multi-profile hospital, Kazinform reports.

Construction is planned to finish by the end of 2030. A three-storey polyclinic of 8,400 square metres will also be built in the city's western district, with diagnostic rooms, a day hospital, a laboratory, an outpatient surgery centre and a women's clinic, plus an ambulance station for nine crews.

Why it matters: cancer care in a mining city like Jezkazgan has long meant travel to bigger centres, so a local oncology centre changes treatment for thousands of families.
