Labour migrants currently send home more than 20 billion dollars, largely without state assistance, he said, and he criticised officials for giving them insufficient support.
Why it matters: money sent home by Uzbeks working abroad is already one of the country's largest income sources. Doubling it would mean formal channels, better support and more migrants, and it would reshape household incomes across Uzbekistan.
