Türkiye's defence firm ASELSAN is showcasing naval systems adapted for civilian ships at the EURONAVAL exhibition in Paris, including the GOKDENIZ and GOKSUR air defence systems and the KILIC and TUFAN kamikaze drone systems.
TUFAN is being shown at full size outside Türkiye for the first time. General Manager Ahmet Akyol said threats now hit tankers and cargo ships, not only warships, which is why civilian vessels need protection too.
Why it matters: as attacks on commercial shipping have grown, the line between military and civilian naval defence is blurring, and Türkiye's defence industry is pitching directly into that gap.
