Kazakhstan's capital Astana is hosting a week of high-level diplomacy.
King Abdullah II of Jordan arrived today for an official visit running November 5 to 6, and Tajikistan's President Emomali Rahmon arrives for a visit running November 5 to 7, both at the invitation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is also coming for November 5 to 6.
The centrepiece is the Aqaba Process summit on November 6, a Jordanian initiative bringing Central Asian leaders together to discuss security, including keeping artificial intelligence out of terrorist hands.
For Kazakhstan, it is a showcase of its role as the region's meeting point: a Middle Eastern monarch, two Central Asian presidents and a security summit, all in one week in Astana.
