More than 150 passengers on a charter flight from Sanya, China to Astana, Kazakhstan spent 27 hours stranded at the airport.
Around 20 children and 30 elderly women were among the passengers waiting for Air Astana charter flight KC584, scheduled for November 4. Some slept on airport seats, passengers said.
Air Astana blamed a technical fault, low pressure in the green hydraulic system, and said a faulty part was replaced. Passengers were given transfers, food and hotel rooms. The plane finally left Sanya on the morning of November 5 and was due in Astana in the afternoon. The airline apologised for the delay.
