Kazakhstan has extradited a fraud suspect from Georgia in a case worth more than 4.5 billion tenge.

Prosecutors say the man ran a scheme to win domestic-producer status for medical equipment, submitting false claims that the machines were made in Kazakhstan, then supplying state hospitals with equipment assembled from imported parts. The damage to the state is put at over 4.5 billion tenge.

He fled the country, was put on an international wanted list, and was detained in Georgia. He is now in pre-trial detention in Kazakhstan, facing up to ten years in prison with confiscation of property.
