Kyrgyzstan is proposing fines for sexual harassment for the first time.
A bill put out for public discussion would make unwanted sexual conduct, from lewd remarks and touching to sending sexual images and stalking, punishable by a fine of 20,000 soms or arrest for up to seven days. Courts could also ban the offender from contacting the victim, with electronic monitoring for up to three months.
The bill was introduced by MP Elvira Surabaldieva.
