Kazakhstan has cut its dependence on imports for 83 types of goods, the government says.
The import share has fallen sharply for ceramic tiles, from 78.7 percent to 48.6 percent, as well as for televisions, copper wire and kitchen furniture. Local factories made 12 million square metres of tiles, 2.4 times more than three years ago, while tile imports fell from 18.1 million to 11.3 million square metres.
