Uzbekistan plans to double its uranium production, from 7,500 tonnes to 15,000 tonnes a year by 2030, and to raise proven reserves to 200,000 tonnes.
The country is also targeting 2.7 billion dollars of critical minerals output by the end of the decade.
Uranium is Uzbekistan's quiet strategic asset: the country sits on some of the world's largest reserves, and demand is rising as countries from Europe to East Asia build new nuclear capacity. Tashkent wants to sell more of the raw material, and process more of it at home.
