Uzbekistan plans to list five big state companies on the stock market in 2027 and 2028, including Uzbekistan Airways, Uzbektelecom, Uzbekhydroenergo, the National Electric Networks company and UzSanoatQurilishBank.

It is the largest privatisation step the country has attempted, and the test case for whether Tashkent can turn state giants into listed companies that outside investors actually want to own.

The listings would deepen a stock market that is still small, and give ordinary Uzbeks a first chance to own shares in the country's flagship firms. The risk is timing: the sales land in the same window as the central bank's inflation fight.
