Kazakhstan and China have agreed to raise regular flights between the two countries from 150 to 180 a week, adding Chengdu and Kashgar to the route network.
The deal was struck at aviation talks in Tashkent in the Central Asia-China format.
For Kazakhstan, the extra links matter beyond tourism: Chengdu is a manufacturing hub and Kashgar is the gateway to Xinjiang, so the flights carry traders and cargo as much as passengers.
