Cybercrime has cost people in Uzbekistan's Samarkand region nearly 50 billion sums this year.
Police say IT-related crimes in the region rose 42% in the first nine months of 2026, with victims losing close to 50 billion sums, around $4.2 million, to online fraud, hacking and scams.
The figures show how fast digital crime is growing in Uzbekistan, outpacing the police response. Samarkand is now one of the worst-hit regions in the country.
