Kazakhstan's police have started taking domestic violence complaints through Threads.
The Committee of Administrative Police launched a campaign called 'We Are Near. Ask Us', inviting anyone to contact the police through its official Threads page, whether they are victims themselves or witnesses. Reports involving a threat to life get priority.
It is a small but telling change: in Kazakhstan, as elsewhere, more and more people report crime where they already spend their time, on social media, rather than at a police station.
