Türkiye's Defence Ministry says a Turkish soldier killed on the border with Iran was likely shot from the Iranian side.
Infantry contract soldier Yusuf Sait Ünlü was killed on October 31 while intervening in an illegal crossing at the Türkiye-Iran border. The ministry said it assessed that the fire came from Iran.
Ankara has not said what action, if any, it will take. The border, long used by smugglers and migrants, is one of the most sensitive stretches of Türkiye's frontier.
