Mass strikes have brought France to a standstill, closing universities, the Paris metro and the Eiffel Tower.
Protests swept the country on Thursday, with transport, schools and public services hit. The Eiffel Tower was closed to visitors as the strike action spread.
The strikes have paralysed daily life across the country, according to local reports, and France has seen repeated waves of protest this year.
