Two men have been arrested in Tashkent on suspicion of trying to kidnap a man on someone else's orders.
Police in Uzbekistan's capital say the victim was approached by strangers who tried to force him into a car. He fought back and escaped, then reported it.
The two suspects, Tashkent residents born in 1998 and 2003 with previous theft convictions, were detained. Police say they found an axe in the boot of their car, and messages on their phones from a suspected client who told them to bring the victim to him by any means necessary.
Investigators say the pair had also been planning to kidnap a second man, waiting outside his workplace for four hours before learning he was away on a business trip. Messages on their phones discussed stunning that victim with a stun gun if needed.
A criminal case has been opened.
