The death toll from the shooting spree in Türkiye's Afyonkarahisar province has risen to nine, and the suspected gunman has been arrested.
Police detained 30-year-old Arif Sefa Ozdemir in Eskisehir. He is suspected of killing eight people and seriously wounding another in attacks across three locations in Afyonkarahisar's Ihsaniye district, using a hunting rifle. One of the wounded has since died.
Three women were shot dead in the village of Yukaritanir, and the attacks continued in two other areas before the suspect fled.
The motive remains unclear. The attack is one of the deadliest mass shootings in Türkiye in recent years, and it has shaken a quiet farming province better known for its thermal springs and marble quarries.
