A magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck the Aegean Sea early this morning, and the tremors were felt across western Türkiye, including in Istanbul.

Türkiye's disaster agency AFAD says the quake hit offshore, about 55 kilometres from Ayvacık in Çanakkale province, at a depth of just over 9 kilometres. No damage or injuries have been reported.

The Aegean is one of the most seismically active parts of the region, and even moderate quakes there are felt widely along the coast.
