Kyrgyzstan's two state banks have cut ties with 284 companies over sanctions risks.
As of November 5, Eldik Bank had ended business with 169 companies and ABank with 115, after a government working group flagged them as carrying elevated sanctions risk. Another 41 companies are still under review.
The move comes from an interagency group chaired by the president's special representative for sanctions policy, Bakyt Sydykov, and the government says it is coordinating with the EU, the US and the UK on the checks.
The backdrop is well known: Kyrgyzstan has faced sustained Western pressure over trade and payments that risk breaching the sanctions on Russia, and Bishkek has been tightening its controls in response.
